The Niche of Light

Inspired by the Shubbāk al-Mishkāt on the façade of Jāmiʿ al-Aqmar, this work reinterprets the historic Fatimid panel through a delicate contemporary composition. The niche and suspended lamp evoke the symbolism of divine light, while the Shahada, geometric forms, and intricate ornamentation preserve the visual language of its Fatimid source. Warm, luminous tones emphasise the passage of light through the composition, creating a dialogue between heritage, faith, and illumination.
